Health Development Crisis Center
The Health Development & Crisis Center will be a 5,690 square foot facility housing up to 14 homeless pregnant mothers between the ages of 13 to 24 years old. The program will prepare the young women for motherhood and transition them into permanent sustainability. Services provided will include short-term housing, parenting education and skill building, GED and ESL services, employment readiness, health and prevention services, and financial literacy and planning.
Griffin Place of DCUSA
The Griffith Place is transitional housing for young adult males between the ages of 17 through 21 years old, who have exhausted Foster care services. The goal is to provide educational training, safe and stable housing, and life skill resources for the participants involved. The participants will also receive additional trainings and counseling through a partnership with Independent Living. The building is currently under renovations and once it is completed it will be available to house 8-12 tenants.
In-School Youth Program
DCUSA’s In-School Youth (ISY) program provides year-round services to at-risk high school seniors who meet certain eligibility requirements. ISY services are provided to students who attend Sussex County high schools or who attends a secondary Delaware State Board of Education approved high school. The goals of the ISY program focus upon the achievement of the participant’s receipt of a high school diploma, certificates from nationally recognized organizations (National Red Cross, OSHA, and others), credentials, school and work readiness skills, college preparation, employment, and employment retention. All In-School Youth program participants are guaranteed employment in the DCUSA Summer Youth Work Program (SYWP), a subsidized summer work experience.
Work Release/Pre-Release Program
The goal of the Work Release/Pre-Release Program is to provide vocational training to inmate within 12 months of parole while providing a service to the community. The services offered will include:
- Half way House / Homeless Shelter
- Personal / Family Counseling
- Education / Computer World, GED, ESL, HS Diploma, and Spiritual Education (Bible College)
- Financial Responsibly / Hope Makers Class
- On the Job training / Apprenticeship
- Evaluate strengths and weakness
- Targeting individual goal
- Career preparation
